Be sure to continue observing our Advanced Water Treatment Technology & its Solutions Blog in order to guarantee yourself updated with the most recent and important technologies, processes, and information for this well-advanced industry.

Kontel Global’s capabilities range from small skid mounted systems to millions of gallons per day water treatment plants. We manufacture all types of water purification systems from reverse osmosis, nanofiltration, ultrafiltration, media filtration, water softeners, ultraviolet treatment, wastewater treatment, and more. Our engineers have spent the last two decades progressively advancing these systems to meet all possible user requirements and ensure production of the highest quality water.

WHAT IS R.O. SYSTEMS &WHY USE ANTISCALANT ONLINE DOSING: Posted by Kontel Global on August 30th, 2023 Reverse osmosis is a method used to separate a high percentage of pollutants from water by forcing it through a semi-permeable membrane. Kontel Global can provide you with commercial & industrial reverse osmosis systems for different applications. Kontel Global designs and manufactures water treatment systems in addition to reverse osmosis systems. Reverse osmosis specializes in the desalination and removal of impurities from water using pressure and semi permeable RO membranes…. Antiscalant chemicals are used to prevent the scaling & fouling of the RO membranes. Scale may consist of mineral fouling such as calcium sulfate, calcium carbonate, barium sulfate, silica, calcium fluoride, and strontium sulfate. The Antiscalant dosing should be done before reaching the RO membranes to break up sulfate precipitates, calcium carbonate, and other mineral fouling. Antiscalant is the preferred pretreatment method for water systems due to its unmatched effectiveness in reducing membrane fouling.
Antiscalant Chemical is used to process very poor-quality feed water at very high rates of recovery. When used properly, Antiscalant extends the time between membrane cleanings from a few weeks to years in some cases. Without Antiscalant, RO membrane systems would not be as successful serving the water treatment industry. Why Use Antiscalant in RO Plant Kontel Global’s extensive range of advanced technology Antiscalant water systems have been developed to manage the problems associated with hard water, specifically hardness salts and the formation of scale across a wide range of commercial, industrial and process environments. Successful membrane cleaning relies on both the effectiveness of the cleaning compounds and the design and operation of the cleaning equipment. Kontel Global can offer suggestions on cleaning system design and cleaning procedures to ensure the most effective results. Here are the main benefits of utilizing Antiscalant in your RO plant:
  • Minerals that cause scaling can be effectively controlled.
  • Suitable with the most popular membranes on the market
  • Extinguish particle foulants to keep membrane areas clean.
  • Significantly higher recovery rates can be achieved with RO systems, resulting in reduced operational costs.

Seawater Desalination:

The SWRO process removes all existing salts and impurities from ocean water. Analysis have been done on seawater and the results state that the water contains approximately 3.5% dissolved solids and more than sixty of the chemical elements have been identified. The primary elements are sodium chloride (80% of the dissolved elements), Potassium (0.13% of the dissolved elements), Magnesium, sand / gravel, limestone, Manganese, Phosphorites, and other elements. Since the oceans of the world contain 3.5% salt content; humans are unable to ingest this type of water to survive. There are many areas in the world where people are affected by either limited or no groundwater at their disposal. Depending on your geographic location – The Persian Gulf for instance has 45 grams of salt per liter, therefore, thermal desalination must be done while everywhere else there is a way to obtain pure and safe drinking water by the process of desalination through RO. Either process you use – thermal or reverse osmosis – the salt is cut down to 0.5 gram per liter and absolutely drinkable. Treating seawater via reverse osmosis can be tricky because of how highly corrosive seawater can be on the membranes, and other components. Seawater also has a range of contaminants from microorganisms, heavy metals, and insoluble salts that can cause scaling or fouling of the RO membranes.
Pre-treatment for SWRO can consist of:
  • Pre-chlorination
  • Multimedia Filters
  • Dechlorination
  • Antiscalant injections
Sea Water Desalination process: Desalination is the process of removing dissolved minerals from seawater, treated wastewater, and brackish groundwater by using a system called Reverse Osmosis (RO). The RO process removes approximately 95% to 99% of the salts and inorganic material found in the seawater which results in safe, healthy, and salt free drinking water. Post-treatment for SWRO can consist of:
  • pH adjustment
  • Calcite filter

Since seawater is so highly corrosive parts made of special components are needed to make sure the system is performing at optimal levels and without issues. We at Kontel Global use only high-standard branded parts for our seawater desalination systems.
